Rosh Hashanah Recipes: If you’re tired of chopped liver, try artichokes…

Photo courtesy of MollycakesEven the best cook gets sick of their own recipes. And even the most delicious recipes can grow old to family members and friends. That’s why this year we decided to do a little series of posts to shake up the traditional Rosh Hashanah recipe bin and find some new ideas. First up: Appetizer!

Chopped liver with cucumber is pretty close to as old school as you can get when it comes to Jewish holiday food. So if you’re looking for something a little bit different try this super-simple app made up of baked artichoke on Pitettes.  The savory, hot salty taste is a great contrast when served with a side of fresh red seedless grapes and  a fresh veggie and dip platter.  Recipe after the jump! Shabbat Shalom… Woof!

My loveable little guys...

As anyone who knows me can attest, I am a full-blown dog lover. I love my animals so much people think I’m crazy. I hug them and let them sit on my lap (they’re 45lbs. each) and throw the ball for them even when it’s 9:00 at night and I am dead tired. And it’s hereditary— my mom has three dogs and my brother two. So when I found out that August 26th had been National Dog Day, I had to do a quick post. And since  dogs ARE technically part of the family, here’s a great way to include them in the Jewish holidays (the dog yarmulke is my personal favorite).

And in honor of the day I thought I would post a link to donate to a great charity close to my family’s heart: The Humane Society of Greater Miami
