I am a distracted person. I have 2 children under 4, 2 dogs, a husband, and about 4,000 freelance jobs on any given week. I am the girl who runs her cart into you at the store because she’s checking her email, the wife who can’t sit through a DVD for more than 45 minutes and the friend who calls you back 2 weeks later. When I was in high school my good friend Laura used to call my brain the hamster wheel and when I spaced out she would not-so-kindly tell me “Get that little hamster running again!”
Recently, during the hamster’s nap time, I dropped my Blackberry on the concrete ground and fractured it beyond recognition, so my awesome brother–who just upgraded his phone–sent me his old iPhone. I hate it. No BBM, hard to type, too much stuff… UNTIL 2 weeks ago. That’s when I discovered a magical app called Grocery IQ. Not only does it have a library of items to choose from, it sorts everything by aisle, allows you to email the list and print it out, and has a built-in Coupon finder. Now, whenever I think of something I need I just tap it into the app– Voila! No more forgetting things at Publix .
It also occurred to me that it’s a great resource for those hosting (or just cooking for) the upcoming Jewish holidays. Simply input your recipe ingredients into the app and you’ll be all set! And maybe start to like your iPhone just a little bit better…
PS– If you’re still menu planning, have no fear. I’ve created a full menu for Rosh Hashanah that will be available soon at Interfaithfamily.com
